Will India develop an AI model like Deepseek R1 and OpenAI? How will the Indian government promote it?

China is an extremely innovative nation with a huge independent internet platform and a large middle class population and AI is one way of enhancing productivity in their manufacturing and service oriented economy

The States is one of the wealthiest most powerful nations in the world and AI is just an evolution of its technological direction and route

Like all those other things I mentioned, this too is unlikely to go anywhere because there is no natural economic necessity for India to have an AI system today

So why would you want to copy what the States and China are doing, just for a handful of headlines and some publicity ?

It cost 750 Million rupees officially but apart from some headlines and some global preening, what were the benefits to the average Indian?

It cost India a lot of money paid to Japan and a lot of credit but apart from some headlines, has the average Indian received any benefits?

Even if you do, do you really need your Government and taxpayer money to promote it ?

If you guys want AI, it must be invested by private technology companies , and unfortunately the only ones you have are not the sort who develop high technology products where AI integration helps

So my ten cents is - India has plenty of other things where tax payer money can be spent

If you do need a Multimodal AI and assuming you have the necessary clientele who can harness a made from scratch Multimodal AI System, it should be your private sector that should be doing the necessary work

What does the stink of the skunk look like? Why would it be dangerous?

In both cases, it was the taxpayer who paid for both of these and in both cases, the taxpayer saw no benefit whatsoever

It would be sacrilege if your government uses taxpayer money to fund a multimodal AI system rather than spending the money on many of the million issues faced by the average Indians today

India neither has an Independent internet platform nor a powerful manufacturing or service economy , given a very small middle class or rich layer

India is neither wealthy nor powerful

Food, Education, Hospitals, Level Playing access to student knowledge, power generation and a number of other things

Would there be a sufficient number to justify profitability for private investors?

If Russia needs the resources to fund the war in Ukraine, why doesn’t it throw open its doors to visa free western tourism? Enough people would be interested, & it would start to get some hard currency as €, CHF, £, SEK, $, JPY in the tills at shops.

And in a country with starving people, poverty, poor quality of education and hospitals - would it not be insane for a Government to spend taxpayer money on building a Multimodal AI system just for some headlines ?
